A Century of Black Progress

Weaving together the past, present, and future of Black storytelling through a series of immersive events, the Spotlight Reading Series celebrates its 10th anniversary alongside the recent centennial of Black History Month. This milestone festival honors the soul of Chicago’s cultural ecosystem while contemplating the magnitude of one hundred years of cultural excellence. See more.

The Spotlight Reading Series will run from August 7-22, 2026 at various South Loop and South Side locations. All events are free and open to the public. Reservations are required.
